Thanksgiving in Oman

Just quickly--it is past 8 and long after sunset, no time for a nice girl to be out, but wanted to say that Turkey Day in Oman was awesome. Unexpectedly so.
No thanks to the stick-in-the-mud SIT group however, but kudos to boys who can cook: an American, an Omani-American and an Iraqi-Omani prepared a true tday feast: turkey, pumpkin pie, the works, and invited the SIT kids and Omanis from SQU (Sultan Qaboos university, where a lot of my research is being conducted). None of the other SIT students came, and it turned out to be Annelle with a bunch of guys. I don't know who felt more strange, me or them, because since coming here I hardly interact with men (other than the SIT students). Yeah, they were probably more weirded out than I was. We got over it once we started eating. The food was that good. The guys forbade me to tell anyone, because that would break the pact of guydom, the well-guarded secret that keeps women in the kitchen and men on the sofa. Sorry boys. Your talents should be publicized.
